While cars do have radiators and you can get heaters for them, there is another type of heater that is referred to. These are heaters designed for the home or office use. They are large room heaters to add warmth to areas that generally don’t get enough heat. They can heat a room area ranging from 40 to 150 square feet. They are somewhat reminiscent of the old style radiators that used to come built into a home. Some older homes may actually have radiator heaters that are connected to the heating system of their furnace.

Just as with regular heating systems the radiators come in different types. You can find the oil filled radiator heater available for purchase as well as an electric radiator heater. Oil heaters are a bit different then standard oil heating furnaces in that the oil itself does not get burned off during the heating process. The oil warms up to create warmth that is emitted into the air. Because the oil does not get burned you never have to replace the oil in the radiator heater. Radiator heaters are an economical way to heat an area where you’d like some extra warmth such as a bathroom.

The heaters are lightweight enough that they are easy to transport. You could easily take one on vacation to that cottage that might get a bit chilly in the evening. Because it is a portable radiator heater, you can also take it to the office if the building you work in doesn’t provide enough heat to keep you sufficiently warm. The radiators are also very silent when in use. Many of the models of the oil radiator heater come with protective outer coverings which allow the unit to remain cool even while it’s functioning.

Having a functional system that also stays cool to the touch is beneficial for people who have small children. There is no risk of a child getting a burn injury from the radiator units. The units also don’t require much in the way of upkeep which is also an added benefit. Perhaps you have a recreational area set up in your basement, but it tends to get drafty so it goes unused. These heaters would be perfect for that type of environment.

You can also use them for any type of outdoor buildings you might have that are not heated through a conventional heating system. It would work well in an outdoor workshop or a barn turned into a studio. Most models come with an overheat protection switch that prevents the units from overheating during use. This helps you feel assured that you and your home are safe while using the radiator unit.

Heaters are often used by individuals when there is the desire to provide more heat to a certain room or location within a building. Also, some people use heaters as a way of curbing energy costs. There are some people that would prefer to use a heater in the room they are currently in then to turn on the central heating system and heat portions of a home or building that are not being utilized by anyone. There are different types of heaters available ranging in prices to suit the needs of anyone looking for an affordable and effective way to heat their homes.

There are different types of heaters that one can purchase for heating needs. An oil radiator heater is a heater that is filled with oil and operates on electricity. Many people like oil heat in general because it provides a more withstanding heating effect and for this same reason there are many people that prefer oil heaters. The oil in the heater is warmed via the electricity and the oil permeates coils within the heater which then emits heat. This type of heater needs little maintenance and is portable so an individual can move the heater around for maximum heating efficiency. An oil radiator heater is considered to be very safe and is the best for providing heating to an entire room.

An electric radiator heater can consist of different types of heaters. One type of electric heater is the baseboard heater. Baseboard heaters are essentially placed on the floor near the baseboards close to an electrical outlet for ease of use. As the warm air is created from the heater it rises displacing the cooler air. These heaters can be easily maintained by dusting off the lint from the unit. Another type of heater is the electric wall heater. It can be large or small and is mounted on a wall or in some cases built into the wall if the individual wants do a little remodeling.

A portable radiator heater offers individuals the convenience of being warm. They are perfect for heating the air in one’s immediate vicinity. Space heaters are the most common portable heater. These heaters are small and compact. They are usually made with a handle or wheels so that user can move the heater as needed. Also, the most popular portable radiator heaters operate off of electricity. There are also under desk heaters. These heaters are very portable and are come in different styles. There are mats which sit on the floor and are connected to a power source in order to supply heat. The heat radiates from the mat similar to a heating pad.

When obtaining a radiator heater one should consider where and how often the heater will be used in order to select the heater with the best functioning.

Defined simply. radiators are devices that utilize liquids circulated through exposed pipes to create ample heat, and this is true whether the item in question is an oil radiator heater, an electric heater, or some other permutation of the product. Despite being called radiators, they work not by radiation but by convection (the movement of molecules in fluids). While originally mostly designed as large, immobile devices, today there are also many products that fall under the category of a portable radiator, as something that can be moved from room to room or building to building as necessary. Portables enjoy the notable advantage of being disproportionately effective at giving more warmth than one would expect from their small size, which in smaller units is often comparable to a desktop CPU in negligible bulk.

A portable radiator will range from thirty to seventy dollars, and effectively heat up a mid-sized room well given a little time to ‘warm up.’ While oil has its inconveniences, as of yet there hasn’t been a major breakthrough in alternatives to oil-filled heater products, necessitating a certain amount of standard caution in using radiators: don’t turn them upside down or on their sides, don’t light a flame near them, et cetera. The risks, however, are extremely minor, given that all modern radiators operate on a basis of the oil being completely separated from the outside environment.

While the overall technology is reliable, individual models may have very specific issues. Most common is a burning dust smell upon initial installation, which will quickly fade over time provided the unit is kept clean. Others may also create loud noises during operation, although many models run completely or nearly silently. Differences in appearance and size are also often substantial, with bigger units being able to heat larger areas more powerfully. However, size is not the primary determining factor over general construction, as it’s possible for two equally-sized units to have vastly different heat output. For these reasons, it’s recommended to find product reviews or opinions, or even try a radiator yourself, before buying it.

Heat settings in modern units are fairly advanced, and should be looked into when shopping. Almost all radiators will have several different basic heat settings. Beyond that, many will passively monitor the room temperature and raise or lower the settings as necessary to maintain an ideal heat level set by the customer. For those who live in colder climates, a particularly useful common feature is the anti-freeze function, which prevents the room from dropping below a certain low temperature regardless of other considerations. You shouldn’t have to do any real assembly for these products, and in fact most people are not qualified to truly assemble a radiator to begin with.

The low-end for a radiator is around thirty-five dollars, for small and low-power models. The top-end for a casual portable radiator purchase is roughly seventy dollars, although more expensive models are also very available. Most particularly, vanity style fake fireplace models will come in at slightly over a hundred dollars, generally speaking.

An oil filled radiator heater is essentially a sealed tube of oil covered with heat dispersing fins. An internal heating element heats the oil, which begins to circulate by convection. The fins become hot and heat radiates outward from them, warming the room air. Radiator heaters are slow to heat a room, but they are very efficient and very quiet. They slowly and steadily dissipate heat into the room, so the longer an oil radiator heater is switched on, the more heat will build up in the room.

The radiator heater first became popular during the industrial revolution, when many residences had small boilers. Piping ran through the walls of homes and connected a series of radiators. As the superheated water passed through the radiators they became hot, and a series of fins dissipated the heat out into the room. However, unlike the electric radiator heater that is common today, these radiators were fixed to the wall and were not portable. They also had to be opened up periodically to have accumulated air bled from them. The portable radiator heater that is found in homes today is permanently sealed and the oil never needs to be changed.

Most oil filled heaters has a thermostatic control which holds the oil at a certain temperature. The hotter the oil, the more heat the fins radiate into the room air, so the output of the heater is indirectly controlled by regulating the interior oil temperature.

Convection heaters function in a similar manner, but disperse heat much more quickly. Convection heaters have no heat dispersing fins. Instead they enclose a heating element in a housing with openings at the top and the bottom. As the heating element becomes hot, heat rises from it, thus drawing air upwards from the bottom of the housing. The rising air passes over the heating element (usually a porcelain plate or rod) and continues on out the vent at the top of the housing, carrying warmth with it. Because this type of heater actually has an air flow, it will warm a room more quickly than a typical radiator heater. It is, however, equally as efficient and equally quiet.

Oil filled heaters are common at hardware stores like Home Depot and Lowes as well as smaller hardware stores, and also department stores like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, etc… The better models have three different energy settings, rated by wattage. The fins of these heaters must be exposed in order to radiate heat, and they can become too hot to touch. Always follow manufacturer’s guidelines for placement and avoid placing them in contact with combustible materials. They are generally best purchased at retail locations, since they are heavy and shipping charges would likely overshadow the cost of the heater itself. Prices range from $35 to $100, depending upon the features of the selected unit.

If you have a finished basement area that you use for recreation you should consider purchasing an electric radiator. Many people choose to create extra living space by fixing up their basement area. Adding some paneling to the walls and a carpet or two to the floor can change the whole atmosphere of the basement. However, a basement can be a cold place to dwell in for long periods of time.

If you have fixed up your basement to be an extra room you should add a portable radiator heater. The heater is compact enough to be out of the way while providing heat for the area you’re in. Some families need the extra space to create an additional bedroom for a child. You want to make sure the space is comfortable and warm on cold days and nights. Using an oil filled radiator heater is one way you can make sure the room will be warm for anyone who sleeps there.

Maybe you have the basement fixed up as an extra family room. You might have a couch and television down there complete with a coffee table and decorations. Using an oil radiator heater will ensure that the room is warm while you entertain any guests you might have. The heaters add heat to a room very quickly and they are completely safe to use in any area of the house. Most of the units come with an automatic shut off feature which allows you to enjoy your room without worry.

Using the basement as an extra room is an easy way to create space when your home is small. You might use the extra room in the basement as a room for gaming. You can add a pool table and even have counters and a bar installed. You can also add flooring such as tiles that you can self-stick in place. There are also acoustic tiles that can be placed onto the ceiling area to really create an individual room area. With the added benefit of an electric radiator heater your room will be complete.

Radiator heaters have been around for quite a while and come in several different styles. Unlike a large furnace unit the heaters are designed to be attractive and fit into a room without appearing too big and bulky. If you’re going to invest in planning and designing a usable space in your basement it would also benefit you to invest in a radiator heater.

It will also help cut the chill if you do other activities in the basement such as laundry or exercise. Nobody wants to spend time in a room or area where they feel uncomfortable. By using a heater in the basement you create a comfortable space where anyone will enjoy spending time.
